The urgency of the project of transporting Turkmen gas through Iranian territory to Azerbaijan was emphasized during the talks by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev and Iranian Oil Minister Javad Ovji, AZERTAC news agency reports citing the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan.

“It was reported that successful cooperation in the oil and gas industry continues.  The importance of implementing a project to transport Turkmen gas from Iran to Azerbaijan was emphasized,” the agency said in a statement.

A little earlier, the Armenpress agency reported with reference to Javad Ovji that Iran was ready to transport Turkmen gas to Armenia through the swap system.

As Armenpress reported, Iranian Oil Minister Javad Ovji stated that his country is ready to transport Turkmen gas to Armenia through the swap system, noting that negotiations on transporting gas from Turkmenistan to Armenia have already begun.

It should be noted that from January 3, 2022, as part of the gas exchange between Turkmenistan, Iran and Azerbaijan, supplies of 4.5 million cubic meters of gas per day began.  Iran receives Turkmen gas in the east of the country and delivers its gas to Azerbaijan in the northeast of Iran.
