Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan discussed preparations for the Caspian Summit

    Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met on Tuesday with Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tleuberdi as part of the meeting of the heads of foreign affairs agencies in the «Central Asia – China» format, held in Nur-Sultan.  This is reported by the website of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan.

 During the conversation, the parties discussed issues of regional policy, exchanged views on topical international issues.

 As noted, the most important topic of the talks was the Caspian issue and the holding of the 6th meeting of the heads of the Caspian states in 2022 in Turkmenistan.

 In addition, R. Meredov and M. Tleuberdi assessed the prospects for building up bilateral trade and economic cooperation, as well as interaction between the two countries in a regional context.  In this context, special attention was paid to the need to maximize the use of modern land and sea transport infrastructure available in Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.

 The importance of continuing joint work in such areas as energy, agriculture, and industrial cooperation was also noted.
