The commissioning of a new facility in the Bagtyyarlyk contract area, the opening of which was attended by the President of Turkmenistan, is an unforgettable event for both Chinese and Turkmen specialists.  This was stated by the President of the CNPC Board of Management Hou Qijun, speaking to the participants of the celebration on the occasion of the commissioning of a new gas gathering station in the Farap etrap of the Lebap velayat.

On behalf of the China National Oil and Gas Corporation, the distinguished guest expressed sincere gratitude to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for the great attention paid to the development of interstate partnership in the field of energy, as well as to the company's activities in the structure of the fuel and energy complex of Turkmenistan.

As noted, in July 2007, with the participation of the heads of the two states, a Production Sharing Agreement on the Bagtyyarlyk contract area and an Agreement on the purchase and sale of natural gas between the State Concern «Turkmengas» and CNPC were signed.

In this regard, it was emphasized that in this way the foundation was laid for mutually beneficial, reliable and long-term Turkmen-Chinese cooperation in the fuel and energy sector.

Thanks to the great attention and support of the leaders of the two countries, CNPC and the State Concern «Turkmengas» effectively interact in the contract area.  Achievements in this area have attracted attention and recognition from the international community.

In the future, it is planned to increase the volume of gas production in the Bagtyýarlyk contract area and thereby bring bilateral cooperation in the field of energy to a new, higher level.

Turkmenistan has colossal natural gas reserves, and China has a promising market.  Thus, mutually beneficial bilateral gas cooperation can be described as complementary, said Hou Qijun.

“For China, Turkmenistan is a reliable, major supplier of gas, and China for Turkmenistan is a key partner in energy trade,” the Chinese guest emphasized.

He also noted that at the beginning of the year new agreements were reached that outlined new areas of joint work.  With the development of the second stage of the Galkynyş gas field, measures are being taken to accelerate the pace of laying the fourth branch of the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline.

 - In the future, we will make every effort for sustainable long-term cooperation in the gas sector and cooperation in all other areas, - the head of CNPC assured.
