Turkmen natural gas can be transported to Anatolia via the Trans-Anatolian Gas Pipeline (TANAP), Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay said.

According to the Anadolu agency, Oktay said this during the 6th meeting of the Turkmen-Turkish intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, which took place last week in Ashgabat.

Stating that energy cooperation has become more important due to the recent global energy security uncertainty, Oktay said: “With the cooperation of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, we can supply Turkmen gas to Anatolia, transporting it through the TANAP line”.

The Vice President of Turkey expressed confidence that negotiations on this issue between the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey, the Turkish energy company BOTAŞ and the Turkmen state-owned natural gas producer, the State Concern Türkmengaz, will soon yield positive results, Anadolu agency notes.

Oktay also announced the readiness of Turkish state companies to take part in the development of hydrocarbon resources at the joint Turkmen-Azerbaijani Dostluk field in the Caspian Sea.

TANAP is a gas pipeline in Turkey.  It is the central part of the Southern Gas Corridor that connects the Shah Deniz gas field in Azerbaijan to Europe.
