The possibilities of organizing an official visit of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the State of Qatar were discussed on Tuesday by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov in a telephone conversation with his Qatari counterpart Mohammed bin Abdel Rahman Al Thani. The interlocutors exchanged views on a wide range of bilateral relations. Emphasizing the positive nature of friendly relations between the countries, it was especially noted that contacts at the highest state level are the main factor in the development of bilateral cooperation. In this context, the parties discussed the possibilities of organizing an official visit of the President of Turkmenistan to the State of Qatar.
The foreign ministers focused on the importance of the activities of the joint intergovernmental Turkmen-Qatari commission on trade and economic cooperation and agreed to hold its third meeting in the near future.
In order to develop political and diplomatic cooperation, the Foreign Ministers of the two countries stressed the need to organize political consultations between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and Qatar by the end of autumn this year.
