Since the commissioning of the Central Asia-China gas pipeline, the People's Republic of China has received 316 billion cubic meters of natural gas. Reporting this, the leading foreign media note that the transnational highway has been operating steadily for more than 10 years, which benefits over 500 million people.

The construction of the gas pipeline, originating in the fields of Turkmenistan and passing through Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, has become a vivid example of constructive and fruitful international cooperation in the interests of progress, sustainable development and prosperity.

As you know, the main supplier of "blue fuel" to the transnational highway is the State Concern "Turkmengas". The second major source of environmentally friendly raw materials is the Bagtyyarlyk contract area, which is being developed by the Amu Darya Gas Company of the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), in accordance with the Production Sharing Agreement.

In August 2007, as part of a working trip to Lebap region, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took part in the welding ceremony of the first symbolic link of the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline, and also presented the CNPC leadership with a package of documents giving the right to carry out relevant work on the Bagtyyarlyk contract territory.

Over the past 13 years, the efforts of Turkmen and Chinese specialists on the right bank of the Amu Darya have identified more than 20 fields with significant reserves of natural gas and gas condensate. A powerful gas production, gas processing and gas transportation infrastructure has been created here.

Companies with extensive experience in the field of geological and geophysical surveys, drilling and engineering construction were involved in this work. Among them are Sinopec Shengli Petroleum Engineering, CNPC Chuanqing Drilling, etc.

It should be noted that the fields of this oil and gas bearing region are distinguished by very difficult geological conditions. Advanced technologies and scientific and technical innovations have become an important factor in their successful development. In particular, the

3D seismic surveys covering more than 10 thousand square kilometers, that is, 75 percent of the contract area. Directional and horizontal wells are being drilled to increase the production of raw materials by 2–3 times.

In 2014, key technologies used for the exploration and development of large deposits on the right bank of the Amu Darya River were awarded the National Prize of the People's Republic of China in the field of scientific and technological progress. Bagtyyarlyk became the first foreign project to build the PetroChina digital gas field platform, which now includes more than 125 production wells.

An important step towards ensuring reliable supplies of environmentally friendly fuel to the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline, first of all, in winter, was the commissioning of fields in the eastern section of the Bagtyyarlyk territory. This project, the first stage of which included the construction of 12 production wells, gas collection and pretreatment units, a pipeline network and other facilities, was launched in August 2018. And already in January 2019, the first batch of commercial gas was received.

In the fall of last year, drilling of well EHojg101D was completed in the East Hojagurlyk field, where the mountainous terrain greatly complicates drilling and construction work. In particular, this well is located at the top of a hill, and the gas pipeline connected to it runs along a steep rocky slope. At the same time, putting it into trial operation allowed to increase natural gas production in the eastern section from 6.2 to 7 million cubic meters per day.

In general, over the past 10 years, gas production in the Bagtyyarlyk contractual area has increased from 4 to 14 billion cubic meters per year. By the beginning of 2020, the total investment of the Chinese partners amounted to more than $ 8.2 billion, gas production - over 100 billion cubic meters.

The plans for further work of the CNPC branch in Turkmenistan include the construction of new wells and onshore facilities for the West Joramergen, Gokmiyar and Dashrabat gas fields in the eastern section of Block B, as well as the Kishtuvan and West Kishtuvan, Gadyn and North Gadyn, Iljik and East Iljik fields, which are located in the west, near the border with Uzbekistan. In addition, it is planned to build several gas compressor units at the Girsan and Telekguyi fields, and to reconstruct gas gathering stations. In general, it is planned to drill about 30 new gas wells by October 2023.
