Within the framework of six-sided cooperation in the "Central Asia + Russia" format, the economy is the most important priority. This opinion was expressed by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, speaking at the summit "Central Asia + Russia", which was held in Astana last Friday.
“We see great prospects here. First of all, these are such areas as energy, industrial cooperation, textile production, agro-industrial complex, logistics, new technologies, regional trade,” the head of Turkmenistan added.
“It is necessary to stimulate the business communities of our countries to a closer partnership. Perhaps, it is necessary to initiate the creation of a permanent business format Central Asia + Russia, during which various aspects of trade and economic cooperation would be considered,” Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted.
As the head of Turkmenistan emphasized, “the creation of modern transport, transit and communication systems in the territories of our countries through the construction of an extensive infrastructure of transport communication and transit, covering the spaces of continental Eurasia with access to the World Ocean, is of particular importance”.
In this regard, Serdar Berdimuhamedov proposed to intensify the work of the North-South transport corridor, which will provide an exit from Russia through Central Asia to sea terminals in the Indian Ocean.
