As the vice-premier explained, this project involves the construction of a gas pipeline through Azerbaijan to Georgia and further to Eastern European countries.

In addition, the construction of the TAPI (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India) gas pipeline continues, Abdrakhmanov added.

"We are also developing an internal network of gas pipelines. Thus, the East-West gas pipeline with a length of 800 km connects almost all major fields of Turkmenistan and can provide all export directions and internal needs of the country, including Europe," Abdrakhmanov said.

According to the Vice-Chairman, the potential resources of Turkmenistan amount to 71.2 billion tons of oil equivalent, of which 53 billion tons are onshore, 18.2 billion tons are offshore, more than 190 oil and gas fields have been discovered.

The reserves of the largest Galkynysh field with adjacent structures are estimated at 27.4 trillion cubic meters of gas. The country currently supplies gas to Russia, China and Iran.
