Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was awarded the "Highest Order of the Turkic World". According to TDH, the award ceremony took place today after the completion of the Summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Samarkand.

“Under the thunderous applause of those present, the President of Uzbekistan presented the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan with the “Highest Order of the Turkic World”, which is awarded to persons who have made a significant contribution to strengthening solidarity between the Turkic-speaking peoples, developing cooperation between member states and increasing the recognition of the organization in the international community,” TDH notes.

Thanking the Organization of Turkic States for the high award, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that he regards it as a sign of respect for Turkmenistan and the Turkmen people.

During the ceremony, President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan was also awarded the Highest Order of the Turkic World.
