The President of Turkmenistan discussed with the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia the prospects for interstate partnership

Issues of Turkmen-Russian cooperation were discussed on Tuesday at the meeting of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov with Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, co-chairman of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation Alexei Overchuk, who arrived in Turkmenistan at the head of a representative delegation of his country, TDH reports.

During the meeting, the promotion of joint projects and programs, the development of bilateral relations in various fields, including at the inter-parliamentary level, were considered. In this aspect, the effectiveness of the recent visit of the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Russian Federation was noted.

Particular attention during the meeting was paid to cooperation in the trade, economic, scientific and technical fields, which are inherently effective. As noted, in recent years, good dynamics has been demonstrated by mutual trade. Among the priority areas of partnership were the oil and gas sector, industry, transport and logistics, trade and a number of other industries.

In this context, a significant role is assigned to the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission, whose activities are aimed at realizing the existing potential of economic partnership and are designed to stimulate business and investment activity.

Confidence was expressed that the bilateral meetings planned during the current visit of the Russian delegation to Ashgabat will provide an opportunity to discuss key aspects of further cooperation and determine its most promising vectors.

The State concern «Turkmengas» is negotiating with the Danish company «Haldor Topsoe» on the construction in Turkmenistan of a small-sized gas chemical plant for the production of ammonia and methanol from natural gas.
