Delegation of Turkmenistan held talks on WTO accession in Geneva

The delegation of Turkmenistan headed by the Chairman of the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan R. Dzhepbarov held a number of meetings with representatives of the World Trade Organization (WTO), the International Trade Center and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, headquartered in Geneva (Switzerland).
During the meetings, the firm commitment of the government of Turkmenistan to become a full member of the WTO was emphasized. In this context, the parties discussed Turkmenistan's vision of the WTO accession process, the possibility of launching a work program to prepare the initial documentation.
The head of the Bank of foreign economic affairs of Turkmenistan emphasized the importance of creating internal institutional mechanisms for negotiations, studying the consequences of joining the WTO and bringing national legislation in line with the rules of the Organization.
Representatives of the international organizations participating in the talks expressed their readiness to provide further assistance to Turkmenistan in carrying out economic reforms and joining the WTO, the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reports.
