The first meeting of the Ad Hoc Expert Group was held in Baku on December 18-19, which discussed the preparation of draft documents on the organization of the Secretariat of the Framework Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Caspian Sea (Tehran Convention), reports the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The meeting was attended by delegations from the Caspian states – the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation and Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, the institutional mechanisms of the Secretariat of the Tehran Convention were discussed, and conceptual issues of creating a Working Group on the shallowing of the Caspian Sea were also considered.
