Briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan discussed issues of ecology and development of «green» energy

A briefing on the topics of «Creation of the Regional Center for Climate Technologies for Central Asian Countries in Ashgabat» and «Development of Renewable Energy Sources in Turkmenistan» was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on September 12, the Foreign Ministry of our country reports.

The event was attended by heads and representatives of the relevant departments of Turkmenistan, diplomatic missions and representative offices of international organizations accredited in Turkmenistan.

The agenda of the meeting included issues of rational use of natural resources, increasing energy efficiency, strengthening and actively using the potential of alternative «green» energy in Turkmenistan.

During the briefing, the current areas of future activities of the Regional Center for Climate Technologies and the importance of the initiative of the President of Turkmenistan in this area were noted. It was stated that the main goal of the Center will be the introduction and application of climate technologies in the countries of the Central Asian region and facilitating the technological advancement of the region in the field of climate change.

 The UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan Dmitry Shlapachenko emphasized that this initiative is a significant step in consolidating joint efforts to achieve common goals in the field of environmental protection.

The briefing also considered the main areas and prospects for cooperation in the field of environmental protection, climate change and ecology.
