The eighth meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Korean Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation is scheduled to be held via digital video communication on November 23.

Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Myratgeldi Meredov reported on the preparations for the upcoming forum at an expanded government meeting, which was held on Thursday by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov via videoconference.

During the online meeting, it is planned to discuss issues of further development of partnership in trade, economic, investment, oil and gas and industrial spheres, in the field of information technology, construction, transport and communications, agriculture and water management, science, education, health care, sports, tourism.

Stressing that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the development of partnership relations with the Republic of Korea, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted the presence of significant potential for expanding cooperation in various sectors.

Turkmenistan is interested in creating new production capacities based on innovative technologies, as well as promoting oil and gas products to world markets, the head of state continued, pointing out the importance of mastering the experience of partners from a friendly country in this area.

As an example of fruitful cooperation, the President named the gas chemical complex for the production of polyethylene and polypropylene built with the participation of the largest Korean companies in the village of Kiyanly, worth over 3.4 billion US dollars. This project was carried out by the State Concern "Turkmengas" together with the South Korean LG International Corp., Hyundai Engineering and the Japanese TOYO Engineering Corporation.

The head of state addressed a number of specific instructions to the Vice-Chairman for the implementation of large investment projects designed to further diversify and increase the export opportunities of the national economy.
