The commitment of the government of Turkmenistan to expand trade and economic cooperation with the United States was expressed by Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov during a regular meeting of the Turkmenistan-US Business Council held on Wednesday online, the website of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reports.
During the event, key aspects of bilateral trade and economic cooperation were discussed. The meeting was attended by members of the government, heads of key ministries and departments of Turkmenistan, senior representative of the US State Department Jonathan Henick, executive director of the Council Eric Stewart and heads of American companies-members of the Council.
During the meeting, the need to diversify economic partnership between Turkmenistan and the United States was emphasized, in which investment, technological and financial areas occupy a special place.
R. Meredov also noted the long-term positive contribution of American companies to various sectors of the Turkmen economy. The importance of the “Turkmenistan-USA” Business Council, created in 2008, was emphasized, which became an effective mechanism for establishing and strengthening relations between business structures of Turkmenistan and the United States.
The Business Council, which meets annually in Ashgabat or in one of the US cities, organizes major business forums. If in the first years about sixty American companies participated in them, then in subsequent stages the number of participating US business structures exceeded a hundred.
Within the framework of the meeting, online meetings of heads of leading American companies with members of the government of Turkmenistan, heads of the country's agricultural complex and banking system were also held.
