In January-August 2021, GDP growth in Turkmenistan amounted to 6.2%. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said this at a government meeting last Friday, where the results of the country's socio-economic development for eight months of this year were summed up.
- Despite the spread of coronavirus infection in the world and its negative impact on the world economy, the results of the work carried out in the country for eight months demonstrate the progressive development of our state in the anniversary year in accordance with the adopted programs, - the head of state said.
The President noted that “the construction of large industrial and social facilities continues at an accelerated pace, including new settlements, residential complexes, health centers, schools, kindergartens, etc”.
- In accordance with the planned plans, 56 large objects were commissioned from January to August, instead of the planned 30, residential buildings with a total area of about half a million square meters were commissioned, - the President said, added that a number of new buildings were planned to be opened by the end of the year.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also noted that the reform of the scientific and educational sphere continues, production is being modernized, and a market economy is being formed. Oil and gas fields are being developed, the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan transmission and communication systems and the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline are under construction, as well as preparations for the implementation of other international projects.
The leader of the nation emphasized that the policy on the development of the private sector, the wide involvement of entrepreneurs in the implementation of economic reforms, continues.
Focusing on the tasks for the current anniversary year, the head of state stressed that they require a lot of work.
At the same time, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that it is necessary to give an additional impetus to the implementation of the State Program on Import Substitution and an increase in the volume of export-oriented products.
“Effectively using the great potential available in various industries, we should continue to develop the economy through diversification, expanding the list and export routes of goods produced in the country,” the President said.
