On Sunday, March 13, a briefing was held at the Garagum hotel in the capital, at which the chairman of the Central Election Commission of Turkmenistan, G. Muradov, spoke about the preliminary results of the early presidential elections in the country.

The head of the Central Election Commission mentioned that the elections of the President of Turkmenistan were held with a high level of voter turnout.  The elections were held on a broad alternative basis on the principles of democracy and openness: nine candidates from various parties, as well as initiative groups of citizens, applied for the highest state post.

It was also noted that a high level of transparency of the elections was ensured by the live online broadcast of the voting process from a number of polling stations in the city of Ashgabat and the velayats of the country, which was conducted by the website of the CEC of Turkmenistan.

The Chairman of the Central Election Commission emphasized that 2,726 national observers and 75 international and foreign observers from the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Organization of Turkic States, as well as from a number of countries observed the elections.

In addition, representatives of foreign media accredited in Turkmenistan, as well as those who arrived in our country by invitation, covered the course of the elections.

It was also noted that in the elections in Turkmenistan, out of the total number of registered voters, 3 million 362 thousand 52 people voted, which amounted to 97.17 percent.

During the briefing, G. Muradov also stressed that the final information on the results of the elections will be brought to the attention of the population within the time period specified by law.
