Serdar Berdimuhamedov: Turkmenistan's GDP growth for the first quarter remains at 6.2%

 The results of the work done in the first quarter demonstrate the consistent development of our state in accordance with the adopted programs; since the beginning of the year, GDP growth has been steadily at the level of 6.2%.  The President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov said this at a government meeting last Friday, at which the results of the country's socio-economic development in January-March 2022 were summed up.

 The construction of large industrial and social facilities continues in the country, oil and gas fields are being developed, power transmission and communication lines Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan are being laid, as well as the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline.  In addition, preparations are underway for the implementation of other international projects, the head of state continued.

 Speaking about the priority tasks of the government this year, Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted: “We will continue the policy aimed at digitalization, the creation of import-substituting production, increasing the volume of exports of domestic products, attracting investments, and increasing the flow of funds in foreign currency”.

 Reforms should also be carried out to improve public administration, the President said, emphasizing the need to minimize unforeseen and administrative expenses, strictly controlling the execution of the State budget.

 During a government meeting, Chairman of the State Statistics Committee Dovletgeldi Amanmukhammedov said that in January-March 2022, compared to last year, gas production and its export, production and export of electricity, gasoline, liquefied gas, cement, bread, cotton and other products increased.

 According to him, the volume of capital investments aimed at developing the national economy at the expense of all sources of financing for this period amounted to 3.9 billion manats, or 14.6% in relation to GDP.
