We have to ensure the attractiveness of the legal system for business, said the head of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, speaking on February 22 at a meeting of the Presidium of the Halk Maslahaty, at which the main tasks of the People's Council of the country in 2024 were outlined.
“Together with the Mejlis, ministries, departments and public associations of Turkmenistan, a Plan of work and activities has been prepared for the main areas of activity of the Halk Maslahaty, scheduled for implementation this year in order to implement the “Program of socio-economic development of Turkmenistan and investments in 2024,” said Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
“According to the Plan, the main objective of the measures we are taking is not only to ensure economic growth, but also to maintain its long-term and sustainable pace. And the economic growth model consists primarily of creating a business environment, supporting entrepreneurial initiatives and increasing private investment. We have to ensure that the legal system is attractive for business,” the Chairman Halk Maslahaty claimed.
During the meeting of the presidium, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov outlined a number of main directions of work of the Halk Maslahaty in 2024. These include: further improvement of the legislative framework for attracting investments, protecting and supporting investors in the country; modernization of legislation in accordance with the rules and principles of the World Trade Organization, taking into account the fact that Turkmenistan is a country joining this Organization; improving legislation to combat the legalization of proceeds from crime; improvement of regulations in tax management and optimization of tax collection; modernization of the legal framework for the protection of intellectual property; improving the business environment in accordance with world practice and others.
