A number of new deposits have appeared on the map of exploitable groundwater reserves of Turkmenistan. Hydrogeologists of the Dashoguz expedition of the State Corporation "Turkmengeology" in the course of research carried out this year discovered drinking water reserves in underground freshwater lenses on the Uchkepderi square in the Gurbansoltan edzhe etrap and on the Dostluk square in the Gubadag etrap of the Dashoguz velayat.
According to the specialists of the State Corporation "Turkmengeology", the new water deposits “Kopanýap” and “Çagatýap” will play an important role in providing the population of the nearest rural settlements - Sharlawuk, Dostluk, Ak-altyn, Bashdesh, Agzybirlik and Gumly - with drinking water of excellent quality.
The assumptions about the presence of fresh water reserves in the foothill plain of the Kopetdag and the southern slope of the Balkhan, where resources are formed due to groundwater runoff from the side of bedrock deposits, were also confirmed. Balkanabat hydrogeological expedition in Serdar etrap revealed reserves of underground fresh water at the Chukur field. The new deposit of drinking water will provide for such large rural settlements as Hajigala, Chukur, Bendesen, Ajidere. In the Makhtumkuli etrap, studies carried out at the Arçaly field revealed the presence of drinking water reserves that can be used to provide the population of the Daina, Chukur-Yurt, Kone-Kesir villages.
