On July 12, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held an extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, at which the results of the work of economic sectors for six months of the current year were summed up and the progress in implementing the adopted programs for the socio-economic development of the country was discussed. The agenda included identifying long-term goals for the second half of the year, as well as personnel issues, TDH reports.
Representatives of the Mejlis, members of the State Security Council, heads of regional administrations, the cities of Ashgabat and Arkadag, rectors of higher educational institutions, editors of newspapers and magazines, and other leaders were invited to the meeting.
Reports from the Vice-Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, a number of heads of government agencies, and velayat hyakims were heard.
Summarizing the reports, the head of Turkmenistan emphasized that the results of the work carried out in the independent Homeland over the six months of this year demonstrate the success of the programs being implemented.
During the reporting period, the GDP growth rate was 6.3 percent. This figure in the industrial sector is 3.6 percent, agriculture - 5.8 percent, transport and communications sector - 7.3 percent, in the service sector - 7.9 percent, trade - 7.8 percent, construction - 9.3 percent.
In accordance with the Program of Socio-Economic Development of Turkmenistan for 2024 and the Investment Program, during the indicated period, capital investments in the amount of 15 billion 420 million manats were used in the country, which is 21 percent higher than the same period last year.
Residential buildings with an area of 454 thousand square meters have been commissioned in velayats, cities and etraps. The construction of industrial facilities, kindergartens, schools and other structures was also carried out on a planned basis.
As noted, during the six months the country’s economy developed steadily, new enterprises were created to produce competitive, high-quality various products, and numerous powerful industrial facilities were put into operation.
At the same time, it was emphasized that activities are being carried out to ensure economic and financial stability and increase employment. The country’s export potential is increasing, and digital technologies are being widely introduced into the industry.
Focusing on further long-term plans, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that a large number of events of international and domestic importance are planned for the second half of the year. In this context, the need for a high level of preparation for Independence Day and Neutrality Day of Turkmenistan, celebrations dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the great thinker and poet Magtymguly Fragi was stated.
During the celebration of the 33rd anniversary of independence, the next meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan will be held in the capital of the country, at which the results of the achieved successes and milestones in the development of the sovereign state will be summed up, and the current tasks facing us will be discussed, the head of state said.
In this context, the need was noted for the Halk Maslahaty and the Mejlis, together with the Cabinet of Ministers, hyakimliks, relevant ministries, sectoral departments, and public organizations, to begin preparing for the upcoming meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan. At the same time, the head of state noted the expediency of making a decision to create an Organizing Committee to convene, determine the date and hold at a high level the next forum of this highest representative body and approve its composition.
The Organizing Committee was also tasked with carrying out appropriate work to nominate citizens who, during the years of independence, achieved high success in the political, economic and cultural life of the country, enjoying great prestige among the people, for state awards and conferring honorary titles on them.
Summing up his speech, the head of state noted with satisfaction that, in general, the indicators for the first half of the year were positive, and instructed the heads of all ministries and line departments to hold meetings in the coming days on the results of the past six months.
Managers, except for the agricultural complex and velayat khyakims, were allowed to go on labor leave from August 1 to September 1 and, as in previous years, spend it in the National Tourist Zone "Avaza", Archman, Yylysuv or other sanatoriums of the country.
