Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, speaking at the High-Level International Conference on Afghanistan, which started in Geneva in an online format, noted the particular importance of regional cooperation in the process of comprehensive development of Afghanistan, the website of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reports.

Ashraf Ghani touched upon security issues, the development of an inclusive roadmap. He stressed the key role of restoring road, transport, communication and energy infrastructure through coordinated practical interaction, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reports.

Ashraf Ghani expressed gratitude to Turkmenistan, which makes an important contribution to the process of involving Afghanistan in the socio-economic development channel. In particular, Turkmenistan's assistance was allocated in the implementation of the Lazurite Corridor project, aimed at ensuring a decent way of life for the Afghan people.

During her speech, Special Representative of the Secretary General for Afghanistan, Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), Deborah Lyons, noted the importance of assisting neighboring countries in the comprehensive reconstruction of Afghanistan.

“Afghanistan and the region can reap many benefits from the many benefits of the electricity, energy and transport projects that are ongoing,” Lyons said, highlighting the construction of the TAPI gas pipeline, transmission lines and fiber-optic communications along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan route, and Lapis lazuli corridor.

During the meeting, the important role of international financial institutions in promoting the economic growth of Afghanistan was also noted, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reported.
