Turkmenistan calls on the OSCE to develop the energy and transport potential of the regions of Central Asia and the Caspian Sea.  According to the website of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan, Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov said it at the 27th meeting of the OSCE Council of Ministers, which took place on December 3 in the capital of Albania in the format of a video conference.

Meredov drew the attention of the meeting participants to the regions of Central Asia and the Caspian Sea, which are playing an increasing role in international politics.  The discussion, in particular, was about the energy resource potential and the possibilities for the development of transport and communication corridors of these regions, which open up great economic and political advantages for the states of the entire OSCE region, the Foreign Ministry website notes.

In this regard, the expediency of the proposal of the Turkmen side to create specialized structures of the OSCE - the Council on Sustainable Energy and the Commission on Transport Policy was emphasized.

Meredov also noted that energy was one of the key areas of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the OSCE.

During the meeting, the parties assessed the current level of cooperation in political, economic, environmental and humanitarian areas in the OSCE area.
