Construction work on the Afghan section of the TAPI gas pipeline to begin in Herat in 2021

Next year, construction work will begin in Herat on the Afghan section of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline.  This was stated at a press conference by the Minister of Mines and Oil Industry of Afghanistan, Garun Chakhansuri, Afghan media reported.

 According to him, an effective mechanism of interaction between state institutions participating in the project and international organizations - partners of TAPI has already been created.

 Chakhansuri added that Afghan authorities are also working on a project to build the Shibargan-Mazar-i-Sharif gas pipeline in the north of the country.  Its length will be 94.5 km, and construction work will begin in the next three months.

 As previously reported, in November, Vice-Chairman, Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, during the plenary meeting of the High-level Conference on Afghanistan, held in Geneva in an online format, noted that the Turkmen side plans to complete the construction of TAPI on its territory this year.  and next to start construction on the territory of Afghanistan.
