Thanks to the tireless labor of gas supply workers in the regions of the country, including the etraps and cities of the Mary velayat, the homes of the Turkmen people are continuously supplied with “blue fuel” throughout the year. A striking example of this is the activity of gas workers of the Sakarçageetrapgaz gas supply organization of the Marygazüpjünçilik Directorate.
Over the past two or three years, new households have been formed in the villages of the etrap. Thus, in accordance with the plan scheduled for 2024 according to the National Program, gas pipelines of various diameter with a total length of nine thousand meters have been built in the etrap. New settlements in the etrap gengeshliks of Agzybir, Akyap, Dayhan, Gyzylgum, Merdana, Cherkezkol, Gorelde and Chashgyn have been fully gasified.
“This year we have a responsible task – the construction of ten thousand two hundred meters of gas pipelines of various pressure in the etrap. The work is progressing at an accelerated pace. This year, which has been declared the International Year of Peace and Trust, we will build and put into operation medium-pressure gas pipelines with a length of one thousand three hundred and ten meters in the territory of the Garayab gengeshlik and of five hundred meters in the territory of the Soyunsary gengeshlik of our etrap.
There are about twenty-five thousand households in our district. Each employee of our organization makes his or her feasible contribution to ensuring an uninterrupted supply of natural gas to the population throughout the year. Among them, I would like to mention foreman of the emergency recovery service of our enterprise Batyr Bekdurdiyev, gas welder Babajan Nurliyev, fitters of the external gas pipeline service Yagshy Garyagdiyev, Merdan Abdyev and Allak Gurbangeldiyev and first-category engineer for technical safety and labor protection Muhammet Gurbandurdiyev,” the head of the Sakarçageetrapgaz gas enterprise Arslan Akveliyev says.
The employees of the enterprise service gas pipelines of various pressure with a total length of one thousand one hundred eighty-two kilometers throughout the etrap. At present, work has also begun in an organized manner to prepare gas distribution facilities, gas control equipment and gas pipelines on the territory of the etrap for the autumn-winter period. Gas specialists are carrying out technical maintenance and painting and are performing repair work on the relevant sections of the gas pipelines.

From the history of oil production in Turkmenistan
The first mention of oil in Turkmenistan, more precisely on the eastern shore of the Caspian Sea, dates back to the 18th century. There is evidence that in 1782, 20 oil wells were used on Cheleken (popularly called “oil island”), from which up to 4,000 poods of oil a year were extracted. The oil was shipped in wineskins (bags made of animal skin) by boats – prototypes of modern tankers.
