Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan agreed to expand cooperation in key areas

Expansion of cooperation in trade and economic, energy, transport, and agricultural areas is envisaged by the protocol signed following the results of the 8th meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Azerbaijani Commission on Economic Cooperation, held in Baku, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported on its website (https://www.mfa.gov.tm/ru/articles/1599).

The delegation of Turkmenistan at the meeting was headed by Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Nokerguly Atagulyev, the delegation of Azerbaijan - by Minister of Economy Mikail Jabbarov.

During the meeting, the parties noted a wide range of bilateral cooperation, including such important areas as trade and economic, energy, transport, and cultural and humanitarian spheres.

The parties also emphasized the possibilities for further expansion and strengthening of cooperation in the energy and oil and gas sectors, chemistry, transport and communications, agriculture and food industry, environmental protection, as well as in the cultural and humanitarian areas.

The positive dynamics of transit traffic between the two countries was noted.

The parties also discussed the need to expand the activities of representatives of the private sector of both countries, including participation in trade events, exhibitions and forums held in Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan.

It was decided to hold the next, 9th meeting of the intergovernmental commission in Ashgabat.
