At the sitting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, held via the digital system on August 29, 2025 and devoted to the results of work of all sectors of the national economy of the country for eight months of the current year, the head of state highlighted the importance of further improving the activities of the national oil and gas complex and instructed to continue the relevant work on ensuring the full operation of oil and gas enterprises and on increasing the efficiency of geological exploration and drilling operations.
Guided by the instructions and advice of the esteemed President, the drilling directorates of the Nebitgazburawlaýyş Trust of the Türkmennebit State Concern in the Balkan velayat are achieving high production indicators. This is fully confirmed by the fact that during the eight months of the current year, the entire Concern drilled 110 thousand 479 meters of rock. During this period, the drilling of 22 productive wells was successfully completed.
In particular, over the eight months of the International Year of Peace and Trust, drillers made a worthy contribution to the production of more than 2 million 676 thousand 934 tons of “black gold” and 3 billion 108 million 925 cubic meters of “blue fuel” in the oil and gas production directorates of the Türkmennebit State Concern.
It should be emphasized that thanks to the constant concern of the head of state for the improvement of the fuel and energy complex, the main sector of the national economy of our country, Balkan drillers, confidently operating the most powerful drilling rigs, distinguished by high productivity, have completed the drilling of 19 wells since the beginning of the year.
Currently, the industrial development of these oil and gas wells is in full swing. The drillers of the Nebitgazburawlaýyş Trust, which makes a significant contribution to the successful implementation of the Program of the Development of the Oil and Gas Industry of Turkmenistan until 2030, are currently working hard on new projects to worthily celebrate the 34th anniversary of independence and the 30th anniversary of the permanent neutrality of our Motherland.

The labor collectives of the Türkmennebit State Concern, which is one of the major production structures of the national economy of our country, which is marked by achievements, are confidently moving forward in the year “The Era of the People with Arkadag” to new heights of development.
IOGU Students at Work Practice
Students of Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University underwent practical training in the directorates and trusts of the oil and gas industry. The production process established at modern enterprises of the country’s fuel and energy complex with the introduction of high innovative technologies contributed to the practical assimilation of theoretical knowledge by them.
Bagtyýarlyk: supply of natural gas to foreign markets
The noble initiatives of the National Leader of the Turkmen people to introduce innovative technologies in the gas industry, which is the main sector of the national economy and to increase the production of “blue fuel” and the volume of supplies to the external market through diversification are successfully being implemented by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov
From the history of oil production in Turkmenistan
The first mention of oil in Turkmenistan, more precisely on the eastern shore of the Caspian Sea, dates back to the 18th century. There is evidence that in 1782, 20 oil wells were used on Cheleken (popularly called “oil island”), from which up to 4,000 poods of oil a year were extracted. The oil was shipped in wineskins (bags made of animal skin) by boats – prototypes of modern tankers.
