Expanded government meeting summarized the oil and gas sector's performance for the first six months of 2026

On July 10, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held an expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers to summarize the work completed over the first six months of this year, review the implementation of the country's socioeconomic development programs, and discuss personnel matters. Reports were also heard from the Vice-Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers and several regional governors and hyakims.
Representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, members of the State Security Council, regional governors, governors of the cities of Ashgabat and Arkadag, rectors of higher education institutions, editors of newspapers and magazines, and other leaders were invited to the expanded government meeting.
During the meeting, Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Guvanch Agadzhanov reported on the progress made from January to June 2026 to increase oil and gas production and expand supply routes to global markets.
As reported, during this period, the State Concern Turkmennebit fulfilled its oil production plan at 108.3 percent, while its refineries fulfilled their oil refining plan at 104.1 percent.
Gasoline production plan fulfillment was 116 percent, diesel fuel at 111.4 percent, polypropylene at 100 percent, lubricating oils at 119.4 percent, liquefied gas at 118.5 percent, and natural and associated gas at 107.6 percent.
After hearing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov announced his decision to relieve G. Garlyev of his post as Chairman of the State Corporation "Turkmengeology" due to his transfer to another position and to appoint B. Amanov to this position, relieving him of his post as Deputy Chairman of the State Concern "Turkmengas". The head of Turkmenistan signed the relevant documents in this regard.
Expressing his heartfelt gratitude to the President for the high level of trust placed in him, B. Amanov assured him that he would make every effort to successfully fulfill the tasks facing the State Corporation, wishing the head of state and Hero-Arkadag good health, longevity, and success in their work for the well-being of the people and the prosperity of the Homeland.
Then, addressing the complex's management, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that the priority plans include developing the oil and gas sector and diversifying natural gas exports to global markets. In this regard, emphasis was placed on the importance of successfully achieving the objectives of oil and natural gas production, achieving marketability, and continuing the effective development of the Galkynysh gas field.
The head of Turkmenistan also emphasized the need to continue to consistently modernize and expand the production capacity of the complex's enterprises. At the same time, instructions were given to carry out geological exploration work, improve the efficiency of discovering new hydrocarbon deposits, and produce environmentally friendly products.
