Preparations for the meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Saudi Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation are underway

 The next, seventh meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Saudi Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation is scheduled to be held in the first half of 2021 in the capital of Saudi Arabia – the city of Riyadh.  This was announced by Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Shahym Abdrakhmanov during a government meeting held by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov last Friday via video link.

 The Vice-Chairman also reported on the ongoing preparations for the upcoming meeting.  In particular, during the meeting it is planned to discuss the implementation of agreements and other documents signed during the official visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Saudi Arabia in May 2016.

 In addition, the meeting participants intend to consider the prospects for the development of bilateral partnerships in trade, economic, investment, energy, construction and industrial spheres, mining, food and pharmaceutical industries, through private business, in the field of health care, agriculture and water management, environmental protection,  information and communication technologies, science and education, sports, culture, tourism.

 Summing up the report, the President emphasized that Turkmenistan and Saudi Arabia were linked by long-standing relations of friendship and fruitful interaction, which was successfully developing both in bilateral and multilateral formats, through authoritative regional and international organizations and structures.

 Having noted the progressive dynamics of the interstate dialogue, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov pointed to the presence of an impressive potential for further expansion of trade, economic and business ties.  The course towards industrialization and digitalization of the national economy, large-scale transformation programs and large-scale projects implemented in our country provide favorable opportunities for diversifying fruitful contacts.

 The President mentioned that the work of joint intergovernmental commissions had proven itself as an effective mechanism for intensifying cooperation, built on a mutually beneficial and long-term basis.
