PETRONAS became the bronze sponsor of the International Investment Forum in Turkmenistan

PETRONAS Carigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn. Bcd. (a subsidiary of the Malaysian PETRONAS) is the Bronze sponsor of the International Forum on Attracting Foreign Investment in the Oil and Gas Sector of Turkmenistan, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of independence of our country. This was announced by the Organizing Committee of the upcoming event.

The Forum, which will be held on May 12-13 in Ashgabat, is organized by the State Concerns "Turkmengas" and "Turkmennebit", the State Corporation" Turkmengeologia", as well as the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan in partnership with the Economic Society"Turkmen Forum".

The Forum will be attended by international experts and key participants of the global gas market. The event will serve as a platform for the exchange of knowledge, development and strengthening of partnership between Turkmen state institutions and foreign oil and gas companies.

The event will discuss global and regional trends in the development of the fuel and energy complex, as well as the implementation of regional projects in this area. Special attention will be paid to attracting investments in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea and the prospects for gas and chemical projects.

Among the participants of the forum are representatives of international organizations and institutions, heads and experts of leading oil and gas companies such as PETRONAS, Dragon Oil PLC, China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), Hyundai Engineering, Shell, Gaffney, Cline & Associates (GaffneyCline), NAPECO, Vitol and the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), as well as leading experts of major financial institutions.

PETRONAS Carigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn. Bcd. started its activities in Turkmenistan more than twenty years ago by signing a production sharing contract on the territory of "Block 1" in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea. With the start of commercial oil production in 2009 at the Diyarbekir field and natural gas production in 2011 at the Magtymguly field, the company has become one of the major producers of hydrocarbons and suppliers of natural gas in Turkmenistan.

The company also attaches great importance to education, talent development and capacity building. To date, 162 students from Turkmenistan have received special education in Malaysia as part of the sponsorship program. Currently, 640 employees of PETRONAS Carigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn. Bcd. they are local specialists.

In 2013, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the International University of Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan and the PETRONAS University of Technology (UTP), a leading private university in Malaysia and owned by PETRONAS. The document aims to exchange experience in the field of educational and research activities in the oil and gas sector.
