 Turkmenistan implements social facilities in Afghanistan, regularly sends humanitarian aid, the foreign ministry of our country reports.

 This was stated by the Turkmen side at a high-level meeting on the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan, held on Monday in a hybrid format in Geneva, in which UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, as well as representatives of authoritative international organizations, took part.  A delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan participated in the meeting from the Turkmen side.

 “Turkmenistan, following the traditions of good-neighborliness and friendship, systematically provides humanitarian assistance to neighboring countries, including Afghanistan.  In particular, implementing social facilities in the neighboring country, Turkmenistan regularly sends humanitarian aid to Afghanistan in the form of medicines and medical supplies,” the Foreign Ministry said.

 Recall, on September 1, by order of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, humanitarian aid was sent to Afghanistan, which became the first humanitarian delivery of the Turkmen side to Afghanistan after the well-known events in the neighboring country.  For the needs of a friendly country, medicines, protective clothing for medical personnel and medical supplies, disinfectants, medicinal solutions, protective masks, surgical gloves, means and drugs for the treatment of coronavirus infection were sent.

 Turkmenistan also makes an important contribution to the socio-economic development of neighboring Afghanistan through the implementation of promising projects in the field of energy, transport and communications.

 Turkmenistan also continues to maintain close international cooperation in the peaceful settlement of the situation in Afghanistan.
