OPEC Secretary General will speak on October 27 at the International Conference «Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan»

Secretary General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) Mohammed Sanusi Barkindo will speak online at the XXVI International Conference «Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan», which will be held in a hybrid format on October 27-28 in Ashgabat.
This was reported on the website of the organizers of the forum, including the State Concerns «Turkmengas» and «Turkmennebit», the State Corporation «Turkmengeology» in partnership with the Economic Society «Turkmen Forum» with the support of the British company GaffneyCline.
As noted in the preliminary program of the upcoming forum, Barkindo will speak on October 27 at a plenary session dedicated to the future of the global energy system.
Among other foreign speakers of this plenary session, the speech of the Chairman of the Global Gas Center, Rene Bauz, will be announced, who will share his ideas on the importance of natural gas for the restoration of the world economy, as well as his opinion on the role that Turkmenistan can play in this area.
Within the framework of this plenary session, online speeches will also be made by the Secretary General of the Secretariat of the European Energy Charter Urban Rusnak, Chief Energy Economist of the International Energy Center Tim Gould, President of CNPC Hou Qijun. The executive director of Socar Trading SA Maryam Almaszadeh will address the forum participants with a video message.
New to this year's conference will be a teleconference with Dubai Expo 2020 as part of the Natural Gas and Alternative Energy Sessions – Key Resources in the Transition to a Low Carbon Future. The session will take place on October 28 and will connect the participants of the conference in Ashgabat with the exhibition pavilion of Turkmenistan at Dubai Expo 2020.
Due to restrictions on international travel due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Ashgabat conference will be held in both traditional and online formats. This approach will also be used to organize business meetings on the sidelines of the conference with the leadership of the oil and gas sector of Turkmenistan.
