Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to take part in the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Republic's independence and the India-Central Asia Summit.  This is stated in a letter from the Prime Minister of India addressed to the Turkmen leader, published on Friday in the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper.

Noting that India and Turkmenistan are linked by traditionally close historical and cultural relations, Modi stressed that the coming 2022 will be marked by the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

“I would like to cordially invite you to visit India as a guest of honor for the Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi on January 26, 2022.  It will also be an honor for us to host a contingent of your Armed Forces to participate in the Republic Day parade”, - the Prime Minister said in a letter.

Modi also recalled his visit to Turkmenistan in 2015 and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov's visit to India in 2010, which «laid a solid foundation for the further development of partnership between India and Turkmenistan».

At the same time, Modi noted that “bilateral and regional cooperation has intensified within the framework of the India-Central Asia dialogue established in 2019”.

The Prime Minister proposed organizing an India-Central Asia Leaders' Summit to celebrate Republic Day in New Delhi to discuss consolidated approaches to regional challenges.

“India views Central Asia in the context of a broad, good-neighborly relationship and is committed to a strong and dynamic partnership with the region,” the Prime Minister addressed.
