President of Turkmenistan: it is necessary to more effectively realize the potential of the fuel and energy complex

The results of the work of the branches of the national economic complex of Turkmenistan for eleven months of this year were discussed at an expanded government meeting chaired by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov last Friday. Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Shakhym Abdrakhmanov reported on the results of work in the oil and gas sector during the reporting period.
In particular, it was reported that in January-November the plan for the production of gasoline was fulfilled by 105.3 percent, bitumen – by 140.3 percent, polypropylene – by 106.6 percent.
Fulfillment of the plan for the production of natural and associated gas amounted to 121.4 percent, for the export of «blue fuel» - 132 percent. Compared to the same period of last year, the growth rate for these indicators was ensured, respectively, at the level of 122.1 and 136.7 percent.
The plan for the development of investments from all sources of financing was fulfilled by 106.2 percent.
After hearing the report, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized the need for a more efficient implementation of the potential available in the oil and gas industry. It is necessary to optimally use the capabilities of the processing sector in order to expand the range of high-quality competitive products made from hydrocarbon raw materials that are in demand in the domestic and foreign markets, the leader of the nation noted.
It is necessary to more actively attract investments to the fuel and energy complex, increase the pace of development of promising oil and gas fields in the Caspian, and also keep under strict control the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline, the head of state emphasized.
Focusing on the need to continue coordinated work in these areas, the President noted that in order to further modernize the infrastructure of the industry, including its processing segment, new enterprises should be built.
Having addressed a number of specific instructions to the Vice-Chairman, the head of state said that the government meeting following the results of the year will also consider the situation in the oil and gas sector.
