CEC registers 6 initiative groups of citizens to nominate candidates for the presidency of Turkmenistan

The Central Commission for Elections and Referendums in Turkmenistan has registered six initiative groups of citizens nominating candidates for the presidential elections to be held on March 12, the organization's website reports.
“In accordance with Article No. 46 of the Electoral Code of Turkmenistan, the Central Election Commission has registered six initiative groups of citizens nominating candidates for the presidential elections in Turkmenistan, which will be held on March 12, 2022, and they have begun collecting signatures,” the CEC said.
To date, two candidates for the post of President of Turkmenistan have been nominated. From the Democratic Party – Vice-Chairman Serdar Berdimuhamedov, from the Agrarian Party – Deputy Hyakim of the Mary region Agajan Bekmyradov.
