During the meeting of the government of Turkmenistan, which President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov chaired last Friday via video communication, topical issues of state policy, including the development of the oil and gas sector, were considered.
Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers M. Meredov reported on the state of affairs in various sectors of the fuel and energy complex, measures taken to strengthen the resource base and production potential of this complex, increase the production and processing of oil and gas.
The Vice-Chairman reported on the ongoing work to improve the "Procedure for conducting exchange trading for the sale abroad of commodity products of the oil and gas industry of Turkmenistan."
Summing up the report, the head of state noted that today an important task is to increase the efficiency of the enterprises of the fuel and energy complex, including their foreign economic activity, which must be brought in line with the realities of the time.
It is necessary to study the key trends of the global oil and gas industry, the state of the world energy markets, analyze the demand for the main types of products of the fuel and energy complex and, on this basis, formulate their own development plans, the head of state stressed.
The President addressed a number of specific instructions to the Vice-Chairman on diversifying the oil and gas sector, modernizing its infrastructure on an innovative basis, focusing on the importance of monitoring the timing of large investment projects, including the construction of the TAPI transnational gas pipeline.
