Turkmenistan's GDP growth in 2022 amounted to 6.2%

At the end of 2022, the GDP growth of Turkmenistan amounted to 6.2%. This was stated by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, speaking at an extended meeting of the government last Friday, at which the results of the country's socio-economic development over the past year were summed up.
- We were able to maintain high growth rates of the national economy, - the President emphasized, stating with satisfaction that the growth of gross domestic product amounted to 6.2%. In particular, this indicator is equal to 6.3% in the industrial sector, 8.9% in the trade sector, and 5.7% in the agricultural sector.
The head of the state also noted that the volume of investments last year increased by 14.2%, commodity exports increased by 43.6% compared to the previous year, 4,000 new jobs were created, and inflation was kept within the specified limits.
“Last year, 76 industrial and social facilities were opened at the expense of all sources of financing, high yields were harvested, which made it possible to maintain food security in the domestic market,” Serdar Berdimuhamedov continued.
The head of Turkmenistan also noted that the total area of housing commissioned last year amounted to over 1.5 million square meters.
During the meeting, it was also reported that in general, production output increased by 11% compared to 2021, foreign trade turnover increased by 32.9%. Wages in large and medium-sized enterprises of the country increased by 10.4%.
