 Issues of expanding trade and economic cooperation were discussed during the 17th meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Uzbek intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation, which was held on Monday in the capital of Turkmenistan.  This is reported by the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

 From the Turkmen side, the heads of ministries and departments of the country, headed by Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan B. Atdaev, took part in the work of the commission.  The Uzbek delegation was headed by Deputy Prime Minister Zh. Khodzhaev.

 As noted during the meeting, regular and constructive negotiations between the Presidents of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are an effective impetus for the further development of Turkmen-Uzbek relations on various aspects of interstate cooperation.

 The meeting participants stated the need to further strengthen partnerships in priority areas of cooperation, primarily in the transport and logistics sector, in the oil and gas, chemical and electric power industries, in the field of agriculture and environmental protection.

 Contacts in the field of scientific, technical, cultural and humanitarian cooperation were also noted as the most important aspects of bilateral partnership.

 According to the results of the work of the commission, the relevant Protocol was signed.
