President: despite the global crisis, the economy of Turkmenistan has maintained sustainable development

Despite the difficult financial and economic conditions in the world, Turkmenistan has achieved sustainable development of its economy, was able to keep in reserve significant amounts of financial resources. This was stated by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, speaking today at a meeting of the Khalk Maslakhaty.

We must take all measures to fulfill in the current difficult conditions the five-year program of the country's development, adopted at last year's meeting of the Halk Maslakhaty, the head of state said.

The President stressed that more than 70 percent of the State budget funds are directed to the social sphere. Huge financial resources are spent on improving the social and living conditions of the population of villages, settlements, cities in etraps and etrap centers. Next year, at the expense of the state budget, we will also continue to build houses for the disabled and citizens in need of support, the Turkmen leader said.

- Along with this, it is necessary to increase the volume of credit funds allocated for the development of industrial sectors of the economy, stimulate small production, increase the volume of credit and financial resources for the population, - said the head of state.

According to the Turkmen leader, most of the funds allocated from the state budget will be directed to education, health care and the Pension Fund.
