Bilateral trade between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan in 2022 increased by 72%, amounting to about 438 million US dollars.  This was reported by the Ministry of Economy of Kazakhstan with reference to the statement of the First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar at the 12th meeting of the Intergovernmental Kazakh-Turkmen Commission on Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation, which took place on May 15 in Astana.

As a result of the meeting, held under the co-chairmanship of R. Sklyar and Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Batyr Atdaev, a package of agreements in the field of agriculture, energy, transport and logistics was signed.

Kazakhstan proposed to establish close cooperation between the export insurance company KazakhExport and the banks of Turkmenistan.

The countries agreed to continue joint work on the development of the North-South transport corridor and the formation of a flexible, competitive tariff policy in railway traffic.

 R. Sklyar also emphasized the need for the speedy implementation of the grain terminal project on the Turkmen-Afghan border.

In addition, the Kazakh delegation expressed interest in purchasing Turkmen natural and liquefied petroleum gas.  It was also noted that for a number of years it was possible to carry out uninterrupted transit of natural gas through the territory of Kazakhstan.
