Today in Kabul, in the presidential palace "Salam Khan", a solemn ceremony of signing a number of documents was held to promote the further implementation of joint infrastructure projects between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan, the website of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reports. The documents, in particular, relate to the further implementation of projects for the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) electric and fiber-optic communication line, as well as the construction of railways. Among the signed documents: Memorandum of Understanding between the State Concern Turkmengaz, TAPI Pipeline Limited and Afgan Gaz Enterprise on the creation and development of a natural gas market in Afghanistan; Memorandum of cooperation in the field of communications and informatization between the Agency "Turkmenaragatnashyk" and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Afghanistan; Agreement between the State Telecommunication Enterprise "Turkmentelecom" of the Agency "Turkmenaragatnashyk" and the communication company "Afghan Wireless" on the connection of fiber optic cable between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan at the state border "Serhetabat-Turgundi" and "Imamnazar-Akina" with the aim of organizing international transit traffic; Agreement on the purchase of electricity in Afghanistan within the framework of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan transmission line project. The signing ceremony was attended by the President of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, members of the government, heads and representatives of the relevant ministries and departments of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan. The event was also attended by representatives of international companies involved in the implementation of these projects.Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers,, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, who participated in the signing ceremony via video link, conveyed words of greetings from President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the head of Afghanistan. Noting the high level of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan in a wide range, Meredov emphasized the importance of signing the current documents, which are designed to promote the practical implementation of joint projects of geopolitical and geo-economic importance for the Eurasian continent. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani expressed gratitude to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for his support of Afghanistan, commitment to friendship between the two countries and peoples, as well as for the development of large-scale energy projects and the creation of multilateral transport and transit corridors designed to have a constructive impact not only on the comprehensive reconstruction of Afghanistan, but also on regional economic integration. Ghani emphasized that the signing of these documents was an important step towards further active implementation of joint projects in Afghanistan.
