Statement of the National Position on Climate Change and Environmental Security made by the President of Turkmenistan during the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) in Dubai on 1-2 December 2023, Published and distributed in six official UN languages as an official document of the 78th session of the General Assembly. The statement was published on the agenda items of the current session of the General Assembly “Protection of the global climate in the interests of the current and future generations of mankind” and “Zone of Peace, Trust and Cooperation of Central Asia”.
The document, in particular, declares the accession of Turkmenistan to the global methane commitment and to establish a legal framework together with UNEP for opening a UN Regional Center for Climate Change in Turkmenistan on technologies related to climate change in Central Asia.
