Ambassador of Turkey to Turkmenistan Ahmet Demirok, at a press conference at his residence in Ashgabat on January 25, expressed hope that work on transporting Turkmen natural gas and electricity to Western markets will begin in the near future.
“Turkmenistan occupies an important position not only in the field of natural gas exports, but also electricity thanks to its existing and under construction energy conversion plants. We hope that work on transporting Turkmen natural gas and electricity to Western markets will begin in the near future,” Ahmet Demirok said.
The ambassador said that Turkey could be a good corridor and route for gas.
Turkey aims to become a gas hub, Demirok said. “Our work in this regard with Russia continues, of course, we do not want to limit ourselves only to Russian gas, we want to diversify supplies,” the ambassador added.
The press conference, held at the residence of the Turkish Ambassador in Ashgabat, was attended by representatives of the embassy, correspondents of foreign media accredited in Turkmenistan, as well as journalists from Turkmenistan.
Vice President of Turkey Cevdet Yilmaz said at the Turkmen-Turkish business forum held in Ashgabat in December 2023 that Turkey is ready to jointly undertake and develop new and very large-scale projects to deliver both Turkmen electricity and natural gas to world markets.
