“LUKOIL” is very optimistic about the prospects for cooperation with our friends, partners from Turkmenistan, said Vagit Alekperov, head of the leading Russian oil company LUKOIL, at the XXV International Conference Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan 2020.

Speaking on Wednesday at the online plenary session of the forum, Vagit Alekperov noted that he sincerely admires the successes achieved by Turkmenistan in the economic sphere. This ensures an increase in the welfare of residents, the flourishing of new technologies, and an increase in the country's attractiveness for foreign investment.

According to him, the achievements related to the fuel and energy complex of Turkmenistan are especially noticeable. The country ranks among the world's largest gas producers, providing steady production growth over the past few years.

Vagit Alekperov also spoke about the cooperation of the company he heads, which has unique experience in working on the Caspian shelf and uses advanced technologies that are environmentally friendly.

It is worth noting that in 2020 Vagit Alekperov twice - in February and September - met with President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Thus, at the September meeting, the head of “LUKOIL” said that the company he heads is interested in cooperation with Turkmenistan in the field of production and processing of hydrocarbons, and petrochemicals.

Having familiarized the head of state with LUKOIL's ongoing development of oil and gas fields in the Caspian, Alekperov noted the company's readiness to expand partnerships with Turkmenistan both in the mining sector and in the production of finished products of the oil and gas chemical industries.

In turn, the President of Turkmenistan advised to work out the existing proposals jointly with the State Concerns "Turkmennebit" and "Turkmengaz" and submit them for consideration by the government.
