At the extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, the results of the work of the fuel and energy complex of Turkmenistan for 2023 were announced

 President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Friday, February 9, held an extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, at which the results of the work of economic sectors for 2023 were summed up, reports were heard from deputy prime ministers, a number of heads of ministries, and region majors (hyakims).  The agenda also includes long-term tasks of the socio-economic development of our state for the current year and personnel issues.

Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Batyr Amanov, who spoke during the meeting, reported on the results of the work carried out in the supervised industries in 2023, on the achieved technical and economic indicators for oil and gas condensate production, and polypropylene production.

 In particular, it was noted that during the period under review, the oil refineries of the State Concern “Turkmennebit” fulfilled the plan for oil refining at the level of 100.6 percent, gasoline production - by 102 percent, diesel fuel - by 102.2 percent, petroleum bitumen - by 199 percent,  lubricating oils - by 105.8 percent, liquefied gas - by 115.7 percent.

 It was also reported that the implementation of the plan for the production of natural and associated gas was 106.9 percent, and for the export of “blue fuel” - 112.6 percent.

 Noting that the oil and gas sector is one of the key sectors of the national economy, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed the Vice-Chairman to continue to ensure a reliable supply of natural gas to domestic and foreign consumers.

At the same time, emphasis was placed on the need for phased industrial development of the Galkynyş gas field, attracting foreign companies to the exploration and development of the Caspian Sea shelf.  The head of state also ordered to keep the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline in the spotlight.

 A number of pressing tasks were identified: carrying out appropriate work on existing fields to increase oil production volumes;  increasing the production capacity of the Turkmenbashi complex of oil refineries and the Seyidi oil refinery with the creation of new high-tech production facilities.

 In continuation, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed to carry out exploration and search for promising deposits of hydrocarbon resources at the proper level.  Along with this, the importance of accelerating the pace of geological surveys to search for deposits of mineral solids, building materials and groundwater was noted.

 Particular attention must be paid to the systematic improvement of the qualifications of industry specialists, the introduction of digital technologies, as well as issues related to reducing the negative impact of the oil and gas sector on the environment and human health, the head of Turkmenistan said, addressing the Vice-Chairman with a number of instructions.

 During the government meeting, the Chairman of the State Committee on Statistics of Turkmenistan, Dovletgeldi Amanmuhammedov, said that at the end of 2023, natural gas production in the country amounted to 80 billion 618.7 million cubic meters, oil - 8 million 316.7 thousand tons.
